$2,000,000 in Revenue

March 12th, 2010

I created a new red light camera map with revenue data obtained by Barnet Fagel from the Chicago Department of Revenue. The map below shows intersections that have generated $2,000,000 or more in revenue between 2007 to 2009. The complete data set lists the revenue for all intersections with red light cameras for each year (2007-2009). I have made it public, so please drop me a line if you find it useful.

UPDATE: Here is a link to the complete table with all the revenue information

Did they just name the intersections or is there a larger set of data for revenue that red light cameras have been generating?

Through Barnet Fagel, I received a list of intersections with the revenue they have generated the last three years. I then just took the top couple for this map. I can point you towards this data if you would like. Does this make sense?

Yeah it does. Is there a way I can take a look at the rest of it?

Here is the link to the google table with all the numbers: http://tables.googlelabs.com/DataSource?snapid=35908
The table is wide, it has locations of the cameras, and to the far right, the revenue, let me know if you need more help

Ouch! My understanding is that cameras are more likely to cause accidents and make money than to stop people running lights.
